I would like to thank the Committee of the EAST MIDLANDS SBT. for the invitation to judge Staffords on this weekend (Sunday 09th Novemberr 2019) your SPECIAL OPEN SHOW. It was a great honour for me and feeling many positive emotions. I
would also to
say thanks to each every exhibitor who entered their dogs and allowed
me to judge them, accepting my decisions with sporting manner observing a good
atmosphere.
A great entry, were 119 in total and I saw some very nice dogs. Well …What I can to say of my lovely ringstewards Mrs Helen Reaney and Mrs Jane Neale, they did a very professional work, very important for the correct running of the show.
I want to congratulate to the Committee for the good organization and great trophies.
I was very pleased at the quality.
Thanks again, because you, the breeders and exhibitors, are the most import part of
the show.

CRITIQUES MINOR PUPPY DOG ( 7 entries / 1A )
1st: Plumstead Mr t & Mrs C – Callastaff Son Of The Moon. Six and a half months old, black/br with white mark. A very nice puppy, I liked this puppy from the first moment when I saw him. Later he would be awarded with my Best Puppy in Show. Well balanced and excellent proportions, cracking head with nice expression. Good deep of stop and length of muzzle and strength of under jaw . Dark round eyes and scissor bite. His chest is excellent with wide front, legs straight and his front is well boned. He has a very pleasing profile. Correct neck well inserted in the scapula, deep brisket and well sprung ribs. Excellent level top line with short coupled, a good back end and tail set. Correct front and rear angulations with hocks let down. I would have liked a little more temperament in the ring that very soon he will have it in the next shows. Correct movement and excellent handling. BEST MINOR PUPPY IN SHOW & BEST PUPPY IN SHOW
2nd: Miller, Mr. & Mrs. E. – Skyland Enchanted. Eight months old. Another nice puppy with well balanced and good proportions, attractive head with a good placement eyes, pleasing on the eye neat rose ears, correct bite and enough stop, his front needs in-depth development. All in correct proportions, as he mature will watch this one. Round boned legs with tight and well placed feet, with a level top line witch he maintained when moving, good rear angulation. Hocks let down. Correct rear movement. Good temperament and good handling. Enjoying the day with my first class.
PUPPY DOG ( 3 entries )
1st: Funnell, Ms. P.M. – Powerpack Tam O’Shanter. Nine and half moths old, black/Br with a sock white. Excellent type and well balanced. He has a good proportions, nice head shape with a smashing expression, dark and round eyes with excellent pigmentation and correct bite with clean lips. Wide front with legs straight and tight feet. Deep brisket with enough sprung ribs showed a excellent top line and back end. Front and rear quarters set corrects. Hooks let down, moved well with excellent handling. He has a very pleasing profile and attractive to see. If his development is correct it’s going to be a exemplary to consider.
2nd: Phillips, Mr. S. – Chiswelstaff Dark Warrior. Ten and half months old, Black/Br. Compact and strong phenotype with close coupled. Heavy puppy with a strong head, wide and deep. Marked stop, dark eyes and correct bite. I’d like a cleaner head and tight lips. Wide front with legs well boned but he has weak pastern. Short neck, deep brisket and well sprung round ribs. Short and strong loin but I’d like a better back. Correct front angulations. When moving his back is weak. Good handling.
JUNIOR DOG ( 10 entries / 2A)
1st: Thomas & Griffiths, Mr.G.R. Mrs. C.E. Mr. C.J. & Mrs. J. – Gazstaff Black Magic. Twelve and half months old, black/br. Excellent type, presented with a great physical condition. Well-balanced, very nice head shape with a nice expression. Marked stop with clean muzzle and lips, good pigmentation. Neat rose ears well placed and excellent size, dark round eyes and correct scissor bite. His chest has a correct front, deep brisket with excellent proportions until elbow, well sprung round ribs. Front is straight with good tight feet and enough bone. Correct neck going into well laid shoulders, close coupled, good angulation on front and rear, level top line, moved well coming and going, his movement was excellent with powerful and showed good drive. He’s sure that he’s going to have a bright future.
2nd: Makin & Porter , Miss E.D. & Mr . A.S. – Waystaff Moon Shine. Sixteen and half months old, black/br. Another nice dog with a good physical condition, well balanced. Nice head shape and nice expression, I’d like smaller ears dark eyes and correct bite. Wide front with a straight legs and elbows well placed. Deep brisket and sprung ribs, I’d like a better back, nice tail carriage and well placed, correct front and rear angulations. Hindquarters parallel when viewed from behind. Excellent hair condition smooth, short and close. He moved well coming and going, handled well.
YEARLING DOG ( 4 entries /2A)
1st: Page Mr S. – Assilo Lisbon Lion. Two years old, Red with white marks. Excellent dog with a great physical condition and well balanced with an excellent type. He has good proportions with a nice head shape, excellent expression, neat rose ears and round dark eyes. Clean tight lips with a correct scissor bite with strong under jaw and very pronounced cheeks. Correct front, straight legs and well padded feet and compact. Elbows well placed with a correct deep brisket. Well sprung ribs, level top line with a good back end. Well bend of stifles with hocks let down. Hindquarters well muscled and legs parallel. Nice dog everywhere you look. Good movement and handling. RESERVE BEST DOG
2nd: John, Mrs A. – Ellchansa Hotshot. Twenty-one months old, black / brindle. Another nice dog with good condition and well balanced. Clean a moderate type without excess, lovely expression, nice head shape with neat ear rose well placed that complete his beautiful head. Tight lips and correct scissor bite. Straight and correct forequarters with enough bone, Shoulders well inserted into the scapula. Level top line with correct rear and front angulations. He is developing correctly. Moved free and agile with economy of effort. Handled well.
NOVICE DOG ( 7 entries /4A)

Eight months old, well balanced and good proportions, attractive head with a good placement eyes, pleasing on the eye neat rose ears, correct bite and enough stop, his front needs in-depth development. All in correct proportions, as he mature will watch this one. Round boned legs with tight and well placed feet, with a level top line witch he maintained when moving, good rear angulation. Hocks let down. Correct rear movement. Good temperament and good handling.
POST GRADUATE DOG ( 9 entries /4A)
1st: Hirst & Bibby Miss S & Miss J – Taraiel Soulja Boy JW. Twenty-three and half months old, black/br with white marks. He is well balanced and he has a good temperament. In fit condition, giving off strength and elegance. Nice expression with deep and wide head. Dark and round eyes with a marked stop neat rose ears and a correct scissor bite. Wide front with straight legs with nice tight and padded feet, rather short and muscle neck. Level top line with close coupled, hindquarters well muscled and powerful, well low set and well carried, moved well coming and going, his movement was excellent with powerful and agile, showed good drive.
2nd: Funnell, & Wiggins, Ms P.M. & Ms N. – Powerpack Kilgobnet JW– Twenty four and half months old, black/br. Another nice dog nicely balanced and excellent type. He has a very pleasing profile and attractive to see. A clean proportionate head with marked stop, neatest of ears set at the right position, correct foreface with a scissor bite . Enough wide front with straight legs, strong pasterns with tight and padded feet. Correct front and rear angulations and excellent top line. Good back end with hocks let down, overall without excess I would have liked a little more substance like the first placed, moved and handled well.
LIMIT DOG ( 6 entries /2A)
1st: Rowe & South, Miss G.L & Mr D. – Illori Akinlana JW Sh CM. Five years and two moths old , black/brindle with white on fingers . Good type, presented with a good physical condition. Well-balanced and good proportions. He was the best of his class, nevertheless I’d have like a better temperament in the ring and I preferred the head of my second placed. His head is correct with a distinct stop, dark eyes, rose ears and clean muzzle, tight lipped and correct scissor bite but his body is where I could appreciate the quality of this dog. His chest has a wide front well boned. Straight front muscular and well defined with nice tight padded feet up on his pasterns. Correct depth of brisket until elbow, level top line and excellent back end, tail well placed and carried. Good bend of stifle, hindquarters well muscled with legs parallel when viewed from behind, moved and handled well.
2nd: Wooward, M – Powerpack a Tisket a Tasket –. Four years and a one moth old, black/br with tiny white spot on the chest. Nice dog in type, well balanced with a good temperament. Very nice head shape, lovely expression given by well-placed eyes and neat rose ears. He has a very pleasing profile and attractive to see, I ‘d like tighter lips. Enough wide front with straight legs, I’d like a little muscular and well defined chest. Correct shoulder placement. Level top line with a short in loin, close coupled, enough front angulations, well bend of stifle with correct tail insertion. Excellent hair condition smooth, short and close. He moved well coming and going, excellent handled.
OPEN DOG ( 9 entries /3A )
1st: Wilson, Mrs K. & Mr S. – Ch. Northstaff Notorious. Two and half years old, Black/Br with a white spot on his foot. Very standard nice dog, He has a very pleasing profile and attractive to see, he demanded your attention at all times. His head is powerful with a distinct stop and short muzzle; I’d like a little more cleaner head, lovely expression given by well-placed eyes and neat rose ears. Clean front with straight legs plenty of bone, well padded feet up on his pasterns, I’d like the chest wider, well balanced body and compact, rather short neck with a correct shoulder placement and excellent proportions where you look at him, close coupled body. Level top line and good front angulations, well bend of stifle with a tail well placed and carried. Moved well with great job of his handler knowing how to get the better of him and that was what made win the class. BEST DOG IN SHOW & BEST OPPSITE SEX.
2nd: Desmond, Mrs D. L. & Mr A. J. – Ch Elitebulls Challenger JW. Two years and seven months old Black/Br with a white spot on his feet. Another excellent dog, I have many doubts about the first and second placed but I need to put them in their place. He has an excellent clean head shape wide and deep with a nice expression, neat rose ears, dark and round eyes, distinct stop, correct muzzle with correct bite,
jaws strong and pronounced cheek muscles. Straight clean front with an excellent forequarters, shoulders well-laid back and elbows well placed, well sprung ribs and deep brisket with good proportions. Well-constructed outline. Well muscled and angulated hindquarters, with a parallel legs with hocks well let down, movement free and agile with an excellent handling. A classy dog that he should to have another first placed…
SPECIAL VETERAN DOG 7-9 years (2 entries /1A )
1st: Hall, Mrs L.– Geordistaff Canny Laddie JW . Seven years and ten months old, Black/Br with a white spot on the chest. I’d like more temperament in the ring. Strong forequarters with legs well boned showing a little weakness in pasterns. Dog with a powerful head wide and deep, dark eyes with distinct stop, scissor bite and pronounced cheek muscles. Deep brisket and well sprung round ribs. Level top line short loin, good bend of stifle and hocks well let down. He need a muscled hindquarters for have a correct balance of his body. For that reason the rear move doesn’t reach with power good handling.
SPECIAL VETERAN DOG +10 years (2 entries )
1st: Folwell & Morris, Mr R. & Miss M. – Rowellstaff Mr Fergunson. Ten years and eleven months old. Red with white spot on his chest. It always a pleasure for me to judge this class, because it is lovely to see them with that have lived a lifetime with our sweetie.
Excellent type and great condition for his age. Well balanced, good head shape with dark round eyes and excellent ear placement with a good pigmentation. Excellent straight front with well boned legs. Deep brisket and well sprung round ribs. Level top line with a good backend. Tail well placed and carried. Well muscled and angulated hindquarters with a hocks well let down, well bend of stifles. He has a good temperament and free movement, handled well. For that reason he was my BEST VETERAN IN SHOW.
2nd: Price, Mr K. & Mrs S. – Little Beau Geste. . Ten years old, Black with white spot on the chest and feet. He is shown in a good condition, standard dog size with a nice head shape, dark round eyes and rose ears well placed, I’d like wider chest. He has straight front legs and well padded feet. Well sprung ribs and correct deep brisket. Body close coupled with correct tail set, good level top line, enough bend of stifles, well presented.
MINOR PUPPY BITCH ( 7 entries )
1st: Howard, Mrs C.Y. & Mr J.S. – Matrixstaffs Black Beauty Six months old, Black/Br with white. Lovely minor puppy, feminine with a super expression, attentive
all the time, excellent temperament. Well balanced, carrying in a bit excess weight but I don’t consider that bad thing at such an early age, nice head shape with a good cheek muscles, neatest of ears, nice dark eyes, clean lip with a perfect scissor bite, excellent clean front with tight well padded feet, good deep brisket with good proportions, level top line with a nice bend of stifle, well angulated front and rear with hocks well let down and correct tail set. Body development OK. Showed and moved well. I wish her a great future. RESERVE BEST PUPPY IN SHOW
2nd: Oakley, Mrs E. & Mr T. – Homafar Jomanda. Eight months old, Black /Br with white. Another nice young minor puppy, very feminine and lovely expression and attractive head but I prefer the shape head and the temperament of the first. Well balanced, good condition, distinct stop, rose ears with dark eyes, clean lip with correct bite. Good clean front straight legs, with the pasterns showing a little weakness, good rib with deep brisket, level top line and body close coupled with correct backend, not the confidence or maturity of winner, moved and handled well.
PUPPY BITCH ( 9 entries )
1st: Jones, Mrs K.M. – Chiswelstaff Black Velvet at Kamaristaff. Twelve months old, black/br, presented with an excellent condition. Has a stamp of quality that caught my eye on the first. Well balanced and feminine, clean overall, Lovely head with a nice expression. Alert at all time. Marked stop with neat rose ears, dark round eyes, clean lipped muzzle with adequate under jaw and correct scissor bite. She has a good straight front with enough bone legs and neat well padded feet with strong pasterns, she has level top line on the move and when stacked. Nice length of neck. Well-sprung ribs and deep brisket in excellent proportions. Correct back end and tail set, muscular hindquarters with a correct development, parallel hooks. Showed good drive with an excellent temperament. Excellent handling. OPPOSITE SEX JUNIOR IN SHOW.
2nd: Mrs V. Dart & Mr. T Dart – Chiswelstaff Penny Black. Twelve months old, black/br. Another nice bitch, which my surprise that she is sister of winner in this strong class, she is similar in type to the first but a little strong but keeping her femininity. Well balanced. Strong head with a nice expression and correct proportions with dark eyes correctly placed neat ears, marked stop with strong clean muzzle. Wide front with a straight legs and adequate bone. neat well padded feet with strong pasterns. Nice amount the brisket with well sprung ribs , level top line with a good back end, nice tail carriage and well placed. Developed hindquarters. Excellent coat condition. She moved well coming and going, handled well. Just preferred overall balance of first place however could have easily changed places.

bitch win her class at the beginning. She entered ring-wasting character. I was looking forward keep my hands of her. Excellent type and structure, presented in a great condition, well balanced with a nice head shape with excellent and feminine expression, dark eyes with an excellent pigmentation, neat rose ears well placed. Clean tight lips with a correct scissor bite. Wide front, straight legs and well boned with an excellent padded feet. Deep brisket until elbow, sprung round ribs with excellent with level top line with a good back end. Excellent tail set well carried. Well bend of stifles, hindquarters well muscled and parallel and hooks well let down. Moved effortlessly and powerful for his handler. A very promising youngster
2nd: Hinsley & Rogers, Mr G & Mrs A. Mr J. & Mrs C – Berrystock Fallen Angel at Tigerbull. Eighteen months old, Black/Br. Another excellent beautiful bitch, well balanced, good proportions and compact, Presented in excellent condition, she transmit feminine and powerful, nice head shape with neat ear rose well placed that complete his beautiful head. Dark eyes with a good pigmentation, correct scissor bite with a strong under jaw and masseters well development. Straight and wide front, with tight and arched fee. Nice shoulders and well placed with elbows tucked in. Well- sprung ribs and deep brisket with excellent proportions, correct front and rear angulations. Good top line with short and strong in loin. Hindquarters well muscled and parallel hooks. Good movement front and rear. Carefully presented, well done.
YEARLING BITCH (4 entries )
1st: Yates, Major (RETD) & Mrs P – Ellchansha Happy Ever After. Twenty-one months old, black/br with white. Lovely and excellent type, presented with a good physical condition. Well-balanced, feminine a nice expression. Nice head shape with excellent proportions, distinct stop with clean neat rose ears, dark eyes, tight lips and correct scissor bite. A good straight front with enough bone legs and neat well padded feet with strong pasterns. She has a tuck up in loins with good let down hooks. She has enough rib and good backend showing good bend of stifle, moves soundly keeping level top line. Developing well. Handled well.
2nd: Higginson, Mrs S. – Legacy Staffords One Spirit Free Lilu ( Imp Fra). Eleven months old, black/br. She was my third placed in the strong Junior Class. She is feminine and with well balanced. Nice in type, good skull to muzzle proportions and ears well placed and carried, dark round eyes and correct bite. Good underjaw and tight lips. Straight front with well padded feet, deep brisket under elbow with a good top line and back end. Hindquarters parallel when viewed from behind, close coupled and hocks let down. Moved freely and with drive.
NOVICE BITCH ( 5 entries /2A)
1st: Miller, Mr & Mrs E. – Skyland Ratatouille. Eight months old, black/ br. Lovely youngster bitch attractive and feminine, standard size, nice head shape with a good
placement eyes, pleasing on the eye neat rose ears, correct bite and enough stop, his front is wide and powerful. Round boned legs with tight and well-placed feet, neck blends into well laid shoulders. Well angulated fore and rear. Hocks let down, she present a clean balanced outline with a level top line witch he maintained when moving. Correct tail set and carried well. Moved and handled well.
2nd: Manchester , Mrs C. – Rowellstaff Ebony Eyes. Seventeen months old, Brindle, another standard size but she needs a better temperament in the ring. She has correct proportions without excess. Well balanced and a compact body. Feminine head and expression with dark round eyes, short muzzle and tight lips, good under jaw. Half pricked ears. Her front is clean with straight legs and up on pasterns. These bitch had a good neck flowing into well laid back shoulders and elbows well placed. Well sprung ribs and good front and rear angulations, tail well placed (low set) hocks well let down. Her body is close coupled. Her coat was short and gleaming. She moved well around the ring holding her top line. Good handling
POST GRADUATE ( 4 entries )
1st: Stanway, Mr P. T. & Mrs E.A. – Waystaff Honeymoon. Seventeen 9 months old, Red with white. Nice bitch with excellent type, presented with an excellent fit condition, feminine of good proportions. She is a girl looking good that fits the standard well. Nice head shape with neat rose ears, dark round eyes, nice clean muzzle with a good under jaw, correct scissor bite. She has a correct neck into good shoulders .She had a lovely front square and straight. Her body was of good length and balanced with well-sprung ribs, an excellent top line, good backend showing good bend of stifle, hocks let down. Good hindquarters and parallel. Moved well coming and going, she is compact and has a great balance being feminine, for that reason was my first placed, a very close decision for the quality of my second placed. Handled well.
2nd: Funnell, Ms P.M. – Powerpack Alura Finvarra JW. Two years old, black/br. What a lovely expression and forequarters!!!! Strong head being feminine. Another top quality bitch witch was hard separate from first, clean head of good shape, an excellent expression, dark and round eyes, lovely neat well placed ears, good under jaw and very pronounced cheek muscles with correct scissor bite. A nice overall balanced head. She has a straight legs and well padded feet. Front square with depth of brisket. Her body is in a good physical condition. She has a lovely body with nice sprung ribs and good top line. Well-angulated and good tail carriage. Hindquarters muscled and legs parallel when viewed from behind. Her coat was smooth, short and close, in a excellent condition. She moved well coming and going. Excellent handling.

Three years old, Dark Brindle, She was the star at the show, she shine for herself, I have liked the look of this girl, it was a pleasure for me put my hands over her and I was not disappointed. She is well balanced, feminine but powerful. She has an excellent clean head shape wide and deep with a nice expression, neat rose ears, dark and round eyes, distinct stop, correct muzzle with correct bite, strong jaws and pronounced cheek muscles. Straight legs and up on pasterns. Good neck flowing into well laid back shoulders and elbows well placed. Nice amount the brisket with well-sprung ribs, level top line with a good back end, nice tail carriage and well placed. Close couple body with fore and rear angulations, muscular hindquarters with a correct development, parallel hooks well let down. Showed good drive with an excellent temperament. Excellent handling. Was a delighted to award her. My best wishes for next year 2020. BEST BITCH , BEST OF BREED & BEST IN SHOW.
2nd: Mcdermott & Bernhardsson, Mrs G. & Mrs E. – King and Queens Over the Moon (Imp. Swe.) JW. Three years old, Blck/Br. A beautiful bitch, powerful yet feminine and well balanced from all angles, nice and awesome head shape with nice expression, marked stop with beautiful neat rose ears set, well placed and small size, dark round eyes, and short muzzle with clean face, very pronounced cheeks muscles and good under jaw. Correct scissor bite. She has a lovely front square and straight with plenty of bone. Tight well padded feet. Level top line with good rib and good backend showing good bend of stifle, hocks let down with a short and strong loin. Muscled and parallel hindquarters. Excellent coat condition. 1st: Mudd, Mr C. Miss N. – Chiswelstaff Jean Genie. Three years and nine months old, Black/Br with white. She is a feminine bitch with a good type and excellent temperament. Well balanced with a correct head shape, neat rose ears, dark eyes and correct scissor bite, distinct stop with a strong under jaw and masseters well developed, the whole of everything to give a lovely expression. She has good front and straight legs with enough of bone. She has enough rib with good proportions of brisket until the elbow. Good level top line, good backend showing good bend of stifle, hocks let down. Moved well coming and going, excellent handling.
2nd: Turner, Miss B. A. – Tidestaff Mystical Magic. Nine years and seven months old, Black/Br, a veteran bitch that she is in a good condition for her age. Correct and clean head with dark eyes, enough stop and correct bite with tight lips. Correct wide front with straight legs but turning her feet inward. Her body has a good proportions with good rib and close couple body. Her back is showing weakness and I’d like better rear angulations carrying the loin up, for that reason the rear movement is with a little jumps. It’s admirable to see the illusion with witch owner show us their lovely dogs.

A nice bitch, she is a worthy champion that she is in excellent condition and she has a excellent temperament. Well-balanced, strong head but feminine and compact body with good proportions. She has a stunning head with lovely ears well placed and carried, dark and round eyes, with an excellent proportions, with lovely strength of muzzle with good depth of under jaw. Very clean front with lovely depth of brisket. She has a lovely front square and straight with plenty of bone and neat well-padded feet with strong pasterns. She good rib and good backend showing good bend of stifle, hocks let down with a short and strong loin showing a good level top line. Muscled and parallel hindquarters and correct tail set. Moved so well coming and going with great drive and holds his top line on the move. Excellent handling.
2nd: Turner, Miss B. A. – Tidestaff Mystical Magic. Nine years and seven months old, Black/Br, a veteran bitch that she is in a good condition for her age. Correct and clean head with dark eyes, enough stop and correct bite with tight lips. Correct wide front with straight legs but turning her feet inward. Her body has good proportions with good rib and close couple body. Her back is showing weakness and I’d like better rear angulations carrying the loin up, for that reason the rear movement is with a little jumps. It’s admirable to see the illusion with witch the owner show us their lovely dogs.

Another nice bitch and she is a worthy champion that she is in excellent condition. Well-balanced, lovely head shape with a nice expression. Excellent proportions head, ears well placed and carried, dark and round eyes and correct bite. Well constructed in body. She has plenty of rib and her body length balance with the length of his legs. Well-sprung ribs and good backend, good fore and rear angulations with hocks let down. 2nd: Hall Mrs L. – Rekrahstaff Miss Altitude Cum Gerordiestaff. Twelve years old , Black/Br with white. A veteran bitch with a good temperament, correct head with neat ears rose and scissor bite with tight lips. she is balanced without excess, feminine with a straight front with enough bone. I’d like a little wide her chest. Her body has overall good proportions with good rib and close couple body with short in loin a well bend of stifles. Moved and handled well.
